There comes a time in its life when a mattress no longer provides you with a comfy nights sleep and the only thing to do so that you can get that needed shut eye is to get a new one. You might go for a like for like change or decide to upgrade and get yourself a memory foam mattress, but what becomes of the old mattress? Here are some options on what to do with it.
Bin it. One option is simple to get rid of the old mattress. This could mean a trip to the tip, arranging with the local council for a pick up or if you are redecorating more in the house you may have a hired skip in which you could get rid of it.
Donate it. This one obviously depends on the condition of the mattress but just because you’re getting rid of it doesn’t mean it is rubbish. You may be able to find a homeless shelter or charity that would happily take the mattress of you and put it to good use.
Recycle it. You may find that you are able to recycle the springs of the mattress so contact your local recycling centre to see if it’s possible.
Sell it. Again this option completely depends on the state of the mattress but you may be able to make a little money by selling it via an online auction site or placing an ad in a local paper. Just because it’s not good enough for you anymore doesn’t mean someone else will think the same.
